The newly published press release highlights how the EU LIFE co-funded project REDI4Heat has successfully supported EU countries in refining their national energy and climate plans (NECPs) to better meet the EU’s 2030 climate goals.

Over the past three years, REDI4Heat has worked closely with authorities in Greece, Portugal, Poland, Croatia, and Germany to align heating and cooling policies with EU legislation. Thanks to the project’s technical guidance and national workshops:

  • Greece and Portugal now reference renewable heat measures in their updated NECPs.
  • Poland has aligned its Clean Air Program with renewable energy targets.
  • Croatia advanced the transposition of RED III and updated its NECP.
  • Germany strengthened municipal heat planning through stakeholder engagement and technical support.

REDI4Heat also delivered key open-access tools like the Policy TrackerHeat Transition Toolbox, and Knowledge Sharing Centre, while reaching over 1,000 stakeholders through trainings, workshops, and consultations.

“REDI4Heat has provided essential policy intelligence and practical pathways to accelerate the uptake of renewable heating and cooling across Europe,” said Dr. Vassiliki Drosou, Project Coordinator.

As REDI4Heat draws to a close, its results will continue to guide national efforts toward a just, efficient, and fossil-free heating future.
